O’Neill Ecology specialise in Ecological Surveys and Ecological Impact Assessments.

We can undertake the following surveys:

  1. European protected species surveys - bats (stage 1 and stage 2 surveys), great-crested newts, dormice and otters.

  2. Other protected and UK Biodiversity Action Plan species such as badger, white-clawed crayfish, red squirrel, hedgehog and water vole surveys.

  3. Reptile and amphibian surveys.

  4. Phase 1 Habitat Surveys.

We work closely with clients to ensure that species surveys are planned and undertaken in the right way and at the right time.

Our ecologists hold licences for the full range of protected species, including bats, great crested newts, white-clawed crayfish and dormice. We provide pragmatic and practical advice on mitigation measures, and undertake the necessary works to achieve a successful result for both the client and wildlife. We can also provide Ecological Clerk of Works services.

O’Neill Ecology has a network of independent consultants and associates. This enables us to take on large and diverse projects including;

  1. Ecological Impact Assessments for environmental statements.

  2. Bird surveys, including breeding bird surveys and wintering bird surveys.

  3. Invertebrate surveys, including terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, brownfield, grassland and woodland species.
